Traverse City Community Meals

With the help of several local restaurants and businesses along with a host of volunteers, Community Meals Program, Inc. has been providing meals for over 28 years. Inspired by her own difficult childhood, founder Sandra Svec firmly believed that “no one should be alone for the holidays.”  When she organized the first Thanksgiving Community Meal at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Traverse City in 1989, little did she know that her passion would grow into the program it has become, a true legacy of love and caring.  Over the years, the Community Meals Program has helped thousands, and the need is growing.  By supporting Community Meals, whether as a sponsoring restaurant, a volunteer, or with your tax-deductible donation — you have the opportunity to help your community in a way that is truly impactful, and deeply appreciated. We are thankful for all who take part in supporting the Community Meals Program… without you, we would not be able to provide this valuable service to our community. The next time your visit one of them, be sure to thank the following restaurants for their generosity:

Arbys; Bay Bread; Big Boy; Blue Tractor; Crusted Creations; Culvers; Dinos; Georgina’s; Greenhouse Café; Holiday Inn;
Mackinaw Brewing; North Peak; Olive Garden; Outback Steakhouse; Park Place; Red Lobster; Red Mesa Grill; Sue’s J&S; The Kitchen
At this time, we are very much in need of monetary donations to help cover the cost of the Holiday Meals! Donations can be made by check or by clicking the “DONATE” button inside the email-us box.  All donations are tax deductible.  Please see our Donations page for details. Will you help us provide to those who are in need?
